Summer School with Dr. John Feehan
July 19th – July 22nd inclusive
Venue: Columban Ecological Institute
Dalgan Park, Navan, Co. Meath, Ireland
An in-depth and hands-on exploration of the wild places that are to be found all around us, at our fingertips and under our feet, often unseen and their marvels un-wondered at: and a look at the responsibility we have with regard to their conservation.
Through lectures, field visits and follow-up microscope work, we will focus each day on a different group of living things, visiting the places they live and exploring the lives they lead. In this way we will encounter and study flowering plants, mosses and liverworts, lichens and fungi, insects and other invertebrates and visit the woods, bogs, freshwater and various microhabitats. Each day will involve an introductory talk, followed by a field trip and laboratory follow-up.
Cost: €250 to include tuition, course materials, bus hire and including lunch on 3 days. We regret that it is not possible to cost for individual days.
Places on the course will be reserved on a first come basis. To book a place, please forward a non-refundable deposit of €50 to Elizabeth McArdle at the above address, with cheques/postal orders made payable to Columban Ecological Institute.
